Somewhere in the story of "Don't Mess With Cuphead", Jim tells Velma that he was never romantically interested in her (she had a passing crush on him) and out of rage, she knocks him out by hitting his eye with her long, black claws! These claw marks become permanent scars and ever since then, he's always had them under his eye. Some time - a few hours later - after taking refuge in the Ecclesian Library, he and the others end up having breakfast burritos for dinner, and he tries to finish his own burrito yet he also notices that somebody else has been eating them.
