Today's #firstbird was a woodpecker in the distant woods. Swiftly followed by the usual hooligan-gulls and then I noticed my garden was awake, all in the space of about 20minutes. Blissful this morning!

A simple, colored pencil sketch of a white-breasted nuthatch on a pine branch, facing our left with its beak tilted up. I especially liked how the slaty blue grey of its back and wings turned out. It's about a 3 inch sketch and there's a bit of washi tape at bottom right showing a pine tree in snowfall.
