The #firstbirdofmyday - or at least the first that grabbed my attention, was a Raven telling me CRONK! CRONK! CRONK! CRONK! CRONK! CRONK! CRONK! It was definitely seven cronks, no more and no fewer. So I am considering myself well told, although I have no idea what he was on about! #Raven

A female crimson rosella was first to visit the water bowl today. Close enough for me to see the blue patch on her cheek and admire the subtle greens, reds and blues in her feathers. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours

We saw our first yellowhammers in a while yesterday, a couple of dozen in some plough at the end of the day. This morning was graced by a grey wagtail flashing it's citrine underbelly as it flew up the canal as I cycled past down to the station. What a glorious day #FirstBirdofMyDay
Rainbows & Robins for most of yesterday and Robins are up and at it for #FirstBirdOfMyDay today.
20 Raspberry canes to be planted out and some final hedge gaps to be filled with 2-3 yr old Hawthorn, Beech and Holly saplings this morning and I am sure Robins will be watching every dig of the spade.

First birds of my day: a Robin perched on a telephone wire and a Wren perched on the gatepost, both singing their hearts out, while a quintet of Magpie rattled around the rooftops and a sextet of Herring Gull screamed overhead.

Many hours ago, a tawny owl heard first, not far away in the hours of darkness. Later, a wren first seen, scampering off under an overhanging shrub on a low wall next to the bird bath.

An eastern yellow robin in the forest this morning on our hill climb walk. Female I’d say, by the more subdued colour. All the usual suspects high above us but my eyes are focused on the track, looking out for tree roots and long strands of bark. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
