Cut the clever side quest. Ditch the barista with a tragic backstory.
If it doesn’t serve the plot or reveal something vital, it’s just literary clutter. 🛍️✂️ #writingtips #editingadvice #killyourdarlings #tightprose #firstdraftproblems #amediting #writingcraft #writingcommunity

I finished yesterday's writing with a summation of a scene. Last night, I realized I need to write it out. It will probably be cut later, but I need it now to make sure I'm telling myself the story. #WIP #FirstDraftProblems

Do you ever just like… feel like you’re writing crap but you can’t seem to make it any better? 😂 #firstdraftproblems #authorsky

Many times when I sit down to do some #writing, I regret that I rarely describe physical spaces.
Then I remember that I gloss over those details most of the time, so if I'm writing for me and people like me, they'd probably have skipped the bits I didn't write anyway.

I need someone to come and Old Yeller this chapter I'm working on. It's almost 4000 words and it's not showing any signs of being over anytime soon. #firstdraftproblems

Second day of #nanowrimo, and I've already forgotten a character's last name. Slippery, those proper nouns. #firstdraftproblems

Next chapter could be a bit of a talky behemoth. #firstdraftproblems
