Description: The Columbia River near Irrigon, Oregon, is shrouded in a thick, heavy fog, creating a scene of ethereal beauty. The water of the river is barely visible, its surface a hazy, almost ghostly reflection of the sky. Silhouetted against the fog, the skeletal forms of bare trees lean towards the water, their branches reaching out like ghostly fingers. This stillness and mystery are further enhanced by the two-dimensionality of the photograph, with its flat, almost monochromatic palette, blurring the lines between reality and illusion. This effect is achieved through the use of soft, flat light, a technique I often employ in my landscape photography.
