Since everyone else is musing about their #GDC I will chime in.
I'm what I would call industry adjacent, I am a Game Dev Teacher, so my goals are pretty different.
I got to lead a pair of Roundtables for k12/youth teachers which was a major goal for me.
My GDC 2026 adventure and observations... oh and I demoed my games! Turns out AAA is looking pretty "cooked" as the kids say.

Starting to recover from #GDC, the Game Developers Conference. This is the first year ever that I didn't buy a pass and just hung out in the park and went to parties/meet-ups. It was very social and very fun.

GDC wrap up thread! It was a super quick trip but I had a blast attending #GDC and SF for the first time. What a beautiful city!
Infinite growth isn’t desirable imho. Meaningfulness is what matters the most, & #GDC felt meaningful this year. Lots of community and solidarity vibes that were much needed. However, we did feel the absence of all the people who couldn’t make it because of wars or didn’t feel safe coming to the US.

Among the booths of #GDC, Google's AI was unintentionally a bit funny-sad. There was no human handing you the merch like others. Instead Google had a slick touchscreen vending machine which took 20 seconds to dispense one unit of compressed Google™️ merch, like an automatic skinnerbox pigeon feeder.
GDC always has a way of revealing where the industry’s mindset is. Sometimes on the show floor, often in the talks, ALWAYS at the surrounding meet-ups and gatherings. After dozens of conversations this week, one theme kept surfacing: the margin for error has gotten much smaller.
