Got to sit in isolation chambers for astronaut candidates, behind the scenes stuff at Johnson. And had a brief ride with one of the Thunderbirds - who then flew my mom to DC to get her discharge papers before the wedding, which happened in an Air Force chapel.

My stepmother was a psychologist in the Air Force testing astronaut candidates when we met her. My brothers and I hounded dad to marry her because we loved everything about her job. Little did we know that at that time a married woman with children couldn't be in the service.
