Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that India’s first bullet train will make its inaugural 100 km run between Surat and Vapi in August 2027. The high-speed trains are designed to operate at 320 km/h, dramatically transforming intercity travel.
Once the full 508 km Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor is completed by 2029, travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will drop to under 2 hours. The project marks a historic leap for Indian rail infrastructure, promising faster connectivity, economic growth, job creation, and advanced technology transfer.
