Taken on Jan. 4, as all vegetation in the #city of #Calgary was enveloped in a heavy #hoar #frost. On a path through the #University of #Calgary grounds this old deciduous #tree was rear-lit by lampposts. I thought it gave a look of equal parts #magical & #creepy. #photography #B&W #UofC

Well, yesterday afternoon it warmed up enough for the heavy #hoar #frost to vanish from the #city of #Calgary. But for three days everywhere you looked it was a #winter wonderland, even outside #McMahon #Stadium. 🙂

Taken this morning (Jan 3, 2026). This is the Confederation Park Golf Course in the NW quadrant of #Calgary. With a heavy #hoar #frost coating all the branches of the deciduous trees it certainly doesn’t resemble a golf course. However #Nordic #skiers can be seen. #photography #january #winter #yyc

Heavy #ice #crystals gave this leafless old #deciduous #tree in SW #Calgary 🇨🇦 an illusion of #foliage. The #hoar #frost on its branches soon melted away. I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
