I thought the thrush
tipping beak into the columbine
had breathed its final breath
Not another funeral thought I
but sighed and readied
leaned to take hold his softness
And the thrush spread its wings
alighting on the cherry tree to chirp a stern human go away!

into the quiet room
where all those
songs lay on shelves
in sleeves
in cases
waiting waiting
hours have past
and I am glad
I listened
left my jacket
hanging in the closet

I’m on the train looking out
my window at the passing
pictures and I forgot all
about the time difference (again) and therefore about contributing anything at all to #losslit
but I feel alright because
