The bridge used to cross the bed of a river which flowed down to Lake Ontario. Infilling projects at Ashbridges Bay severed this river from the lake.

While this may look like a pond, it’s actually a visible part of the Lost River near Orleans, Indiana. A National Natural Landmark, Wesley Chapel Gulf’s Boiling Spring is so named because during heavy rains the water in the pit becomes violently turbulent and can rise as much as five feet. In dry weather channels running into the surrounding woods can be seen, but they serve to move water away from Boiling Spring rather than into it. Indiana’s Lost River is 87 miles long, 23 of which run underground.
