NGC 2071 / NGC 2067 / M78 / NGC 2064 Nebulae - telescope processed image. M78 is the brightest reflection nebula in the sky; it doesn't glow on its own but reflects light from nearby blue stars.

NGC 2071 / NGC 2067 / M78 / NGC 2064 Nebulae - telescope processed image. M78 is the brightest diffuse reflection nebula in the sky, easily spotted in the constellation Orion.

NGC 2071 / NGC 2067 / M78 / NGC 2064 Nebulae - unprocessed image. It contains a cluster of newborn stars and several "Herbig-Haro" objects, which are jets of gas ejected by stars during formation.

NGC 2071 / NGC 2067 / M78 / NGC 2064 Nebulae - telescope processed image. Located in Orion, this complex is a group of reflection nebulae within the Orion B molecular cloud. M78 is the brightest, illuminated by young B-type stars. NGC 2071, NGC 2067, and NGC 2064 are fainter patches separated by dark dust lanes.

NGC 2071 / NGC 2067 / M78 / NGC 2064 Nebulae - unprocessed image. Pierre Méchain discovered M78 in early 1780. Charles Messier added the reflection nebula to his catalog that December, noting its two bright nuclei.

M78 The Casper Nebula - telescope processed image with Moon and Sky Light Filter. M78 (Casper Nebula) is a reflection nebula in Orion, about 1,350 light-years away. It appears bright blue as its dust clouds reflect light from nearby young stars.

M78 The Casper Nebula - unprocessed image with Moon and Sky Light Filter. The Casper Nebula (M78) is the brightest part of a reflection nebula complex within the Orion B Molecular Cloud. It is surrounded by other smaller reflection nebulae like NGC 2064, NGC 2067, and NGC 2071. All these nebulae are clouds of interstellar dust that reflect the blue light from nearby hot, young B-type stars.

Nebulas M78 and NGC 2071 - telescope processed image with Moon and Sky Light Filter. M78 and NGC 2071 are blue reflection nebulae in the Orion constellation. They are part of a large molecular cloud complex where new stars are actively forming.

M78 reflection nebula Taken with Seestar S50 380 x 10s Processed with GraXpert, Siril, Affinity

First pass at processing M78 in Orion. It's a tough one as the interesting stuff is the dark dust clouds rather than the glowing bits, but I'm struggling not to blow out the core. Still impressed that the Seestar can do this.

From last nights session. M78 is a reflection nebula in Orion. This is my first attempt on it. I used my CarbonStar 150 and my ASI533MC Pro. I'm going to try using my AS2600MC next time. This is a stack of 41 x 300s images. I did take 180s but I haven't processed them. #astrophotography #m78
