It's grey This morning And I'm not Going To complain This time - The break From the heat Is far too welcome. Our "second sumner" Has scorched The green Into crackling brown, As an accessory To the sunburns Harvested At Less crowded beaches, With fewer tourists And schools Refilled with students. But thankfully, This morning, The sky is grey, And the air Is still and cool - The heat delayed, Fo now. September 5, 2025

I know I spent a ton of time complaining about the grey skies all of May #maygrey and June #junegloom - it’s a birthright for us, in San Diego, where comfort exists in a narrow temperature band from 65-75 degrees. Our #secondsummer has been angrily hot so far, so we complain.

As if the weather Were reading the calendar, This morning is grey and cool - May Grey - No gift Of sunshine, As an olive branch Of hope ... Just the return Of colorless grey mornings, That could become Hot and sunny By noon, And possibly return By sunset, Creating a narrow window Of sunshine And a willingness to live. At least The jacaranda trees Are in full purple bloom, Their flowers blanketing sidewalks And covering parked cars With petaled kisses, Fighting back, Against the drabness Of May's moist depression. May 1, 2025

May is part of the #seasonaldepression months here - #MayGrey has returned. Overnight and morning coastal clouds that stubbornly persist into noon and often return before sunset. Luckily, May Grey is followed by #JuneGloom! At least this wonderful machine will provide some color all month.
