The Monkey Head nebula NGC 2174 is an H II emission nebula located in the constellation Orion and is associated with the open star cluster NGC 2175. It was discovered on 6 February 1877 by French astronomer Édouard Stephan. It is thought to be located about 6,400 light-years away from Earth

Targets I should be imaging at this time of the year, if it wasn’t for the awful weather. The #MonkeyHead nebula #Astrophotography

I just processed this photo of the Monkey Head Nebula #NGC2174. It took over a month to gather enough usable data due to clouds and a very bright moon. I think I deleted more subframes than actually got used!
