Just recovered from Sunday #mothtrap in Corfe Castle on first cloudy night for ages. 84sp and 300+ moths is a record for my garden. Apart from 5 lovely Elephant Hawks were Black Arches, Purple Thorn, Scorched Carpet, and Double Kidney (nfg) @dorsetbutterflies.bsky.social @dorsetmoths.bsky.social
If you run a moth trap, look out for these distinctive 5mm beetles.
They are the males of the Glow-worm
Females are larger, have no wings, hence the "worm" and they glow.
Several males have been caught recently at a Pett Level trap.

Haven’t trapped for a month, but despite setting the trap, then having to move to the shed doorway for cover from a storm - we got a fantastic catch! Photos of some of the highlights; cream spotted garden tiger, swallow-tailed and elephant hawk.

Ran the #mothtrap for the 1st time in several years (other than to catch LYUWs for young long-eared bats in the flight cage). 37 macro moths of 12 species - not as spectacular as those we saw in Bhutan but quite pleased with the great prominent. Records uploaded to iNaturalist
