View from a tree stand over the barrel of a .45 calibre Hawken-style caplock rifle. In some states the black powder season is flintlock-only, and I often hunt with one. But Ol’ Reliable here has taken every deer I’ve ever killed on purpose.

This pistol was made by Stephen Odell of Natchez, Mississippi. He was born in New York and setup shop in Mississippi in the early 1840s.
