A patch of woods in central Virginia at the convergence of two paths above a swamp.

Ol’ Reliable. She’s an Investarms Bridger Hawken I picked up secondhand in like 2006 for $175. Likes a 70gr load of 2Fg Goex and a linen patched .445 roundball. The one time I used a Minie ball it went clean through. That was the furthest I’ve had to track a deer- couple of hundred yards.

Out in the woods for the last day of the #Muzzleloading #Hunting season. Rifle season starts tomorrow, but all I ever hunt with anymore is black powder guns. I pass up a lot of deer I could probably get with a centerfire, but Ol’ Reliable has taken every deer I’ve ever killed on purpose.
