Swamp milkweed blooming with pink flowers. Has a little lean to it but seems to be doing great!
The Cardinal flower is maybe a bit past its peak now. The bright red flowers are still blooming at the top.
The great blue lobelia is starting to bloom still feel like it’s not quite peak yet. Lovely blue/purple flowers!
From left to right.
The tiny guy with two leaves is an unknown.
The middle plant that’s been chewed on is the swamp aster. I think the rabbits have been chomping on it all season so it hasn’t taken off like the others. There was also a caterpillar of some sort that I spotted once eating it. Hopeful for next year it grows a bit more.
The last one I believe is a common milkweed that hitched a ride in the pot with the aster. Not sure if I should try to move it now or later.
Some recent photos from the first year of the #nativeflower garden!
Overall everything grew in pretty well except for the swamp aster.
There were monarch eggs / tiny caterpillars at one point but they didn’t make it. Maybe due to extreme heatwave when they showed up. Still hoping for more!
