Six Barnacle Geese flying right to left against a grey sky
Into first week of our third year in Portsoy and still some "easy" patch ticks to be had; Barnacle Geese, yeserday, among post-Amy movement into Moray Firth. Also 10 Whoopers and an AπΊπ΅π©πΊπ’ (that would've been #patchtick if ID nailed).

A Treecreeper on a gorse stem
We're approaching two years in Portsoy and low-hanging fruits still fall from the #patchtick tree. Today's Treecreeper was among a roving tit flock. It tried its luck on a telegraph pole and then moved on to gorse stems.

Heath Rustic was New For Hectad, as was a Plain Clay in the Heath Trap set along the shore again.

A rather fuzzy pic of gulls feeding in stubble - most are adult Herrings Gulls but some immatures include one with strikingly white head, slender bill, long primries and other features consistent with 1st-winter Caspian Gull.
A rather fuzzy pic of gulls feeding in stubble - most are adult Herrings Gulls but an immature seperate from the group has a strikingly white head, slender bill, and paler scapulars than coverts, consistent with 1st-winter Caspian Gull.
A seething mass of gulls roaming stubble fields west of Portsoy yielded an apparent Caspian Gull. #Patchtick and NE Scotland tick if accepted (just 4 or 5 regional records). 54 species for #PWC2025 year list.
Thanks to Paul Baxter for swift encouragement regarding ID.
