I am roughly half way through my final proof. More to do later. Your final proof is critical. Print out on paper and use a red pen. Read every word. Look at every image, page number and header. Check literally everything. Go slow. You will find stuff.

There is a type of procrastination that prevents you from finishing. You may be a nit picker. This is associated with imposter syndrome and even if you mentally think it is legit, it isn't. Delivery to the public always includes mean criticism and we avoid it.

I believe errors remain in the book. Mostly these will be missing commas (I know my issues). Proofing can consume you and at some point you need to call an end point with the knowledge it isn't perfect. It's okay, be close and get it out.

The type of proof errors you find during formatting are often introduced in formatting. These can include section duplications or sections missing. Your reading at this point is critical and looking for any possible issues. You cannot skip this step.
