Torroid town!

So I went back to Torroid Town and then finished up the primary board. But then I got excited and stopped taking pictures! Anyway finally result and by some miracle it hasn’t exploded. I will be testing it over the weekend hopefully!

I’m winding enamelled copper wire on the FT140-43 toroid to make an EFHW. The workspace is cluttered with various tools and materials. I’m wearing glasses and The Phantom is embroidered in purple on my T-shirt.
Made progress on the 80-10 QRP EFHW antenna over the weekend and have now planned to make a 12V PD trigger for the #QMX by #QRPLabs. Tested Rx on it with the Silicon City net on 40m, thanks to VU3JIM, you can see the short video at: tilvids.com/w/buA81p7KLs...

Just playing with QRP labs radios today. Vertical MC-750, 3-4W and 20m got a good reach even the sun is throwing tantrums.
First time listened the QMX SSB and it sounds really nice!

On Mon 2nd I took my #QMX to three nearby #SOTA summits, Mt Cobaw, Camels Hump and Mt Gisborne and operated #CW and #SSB with good reports. The #CME affected 20m but 40m worked great and I got lots of contacts. The QMX is an amazing little #radio for performance, versatility and cost! #Hamradio

Based on the hard work of Adam, K6ARK I designed a PCB which does all the work of the connections and designed a case for it.
I think it looks like a Turret from the game Portal, hence its name.

Yesterday I activated Mt Disappointment, VK3/VC-014 with the aim to test a #QMX on #SSB. The wx was cool & windy with a storm sweeping in from the N-W. #Antenna - link #dipole, power - 4S LiFePO4 battery via 12V reg. Only QRV on #40m SSB and made 8 contacts from the eastern states...

This might be unpopular opinion but I think QMX firmware is irritating to use. get it many times into a state that it just doesn't respond to most of the buttons.
Also if the SWR is exceeded, there is no error or anything showing this on screen. Hans said that there should be, but there isn't […]
