As someone who use to study proteins but stopped the year #AlphaFold and #RoseTTAfold hid the scene I wonder how studying proteins has changed since.

It is often very informative to compare many ML methods for structure prediction.

Do all the models converge ?

Are there subtle differences between the models, with some more convincing than others?

Currently testing #alphafold #rosettafold #ESMFold #Omegafold #openfold and #unifold

So what has #AlphaFold and #RoseTTAFold taught us about the fundamental protein folding problem? Are the networks learning totally abstract feature spaces or can we learn anything fundamental from these? Are they interpretable?
