In his younger days, Jack had been put through missions that easily broke lesser men; he’d been starved, beaten, imprisoned and tortured, and still, Carter’s judgement was enough to make him cringe. “'Together' might be a bit of a stretch.” Her full attention swung back his way like the green arm on a radar screen. “So, you weren't together, then.” His skin pinged like he was in enemy territory with a missile lock on his tail. "I wouldn't say ‘together’... I was more-" he sighed "-I guess having a hot CO went to my head.” “Oh, god.”
