Risen One
Around 2,000 years ago Patmos was one of the small islands Rome would send criminals to. The apostle John was banished to that desolate place for proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Yet, because he had a direct relationship with God through Jesus Christ, he was “in the spirit on the Lord’s day" (Revelation 1:10). He even had a vision of the risen Christ. However, it was a frightening sight, and a powerfully holy sight, so much so that the apostle John was overwhelmed by it. The apostle fell and laid at His feet. But then, in verses 17 and 18, by the Holy Spirit, John records, “He laid His right hand upon me, saying unto me, ‘Fear not; I am the first and the last and the living one, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore; and have the keys of hell and of death.’” From His words to the Apostle John we will see four things about the Lord Jesus Christ, the Risen One. And, by the grace of God and the direction of His Holy Spirit, we will speak about a very important facet that is often not seen in most translations.
