I Am A Man By Lancelot In 1968, sanitation workers in Memphis took to the street to strike in response to the denial of their basic civil rights as black workers. Their rallying cry was "I Am A Man." This was a simple statement, but acutely declared and centered these men's humanity in a racist society.
