One afternoon, about 16 years ago, I decided to walk the old scenic railroad grade between the #CliffHouse and site of the old #SutroBaths towards #BakerBeach and the adjacent famous suspension bridge. All of a sudden, this unexpected view stopped me. #LadyLuck
The What Cheer House in 1852 by R.B. Woodward, was a men-only, alcohol-free hotel that housed San Francisco’s first free library & museum. Popular with sailors, who gifted trinkets inspired Woodward to open Woodward’s Gardens. The collection later went to #SutroBaths.

The Skytram looks like a flying bus. The attraction opened in 1955 & lasted only until 1966. The flying bus held about 25 people at a time.

The Sutro Baths was a large complex with various indoor ocean water pools. Built in the mid-1890s, the complex burnt down in 1966.

It’s rare to have weather warm enough to go for a swim in the ocean in the San Francisco Bay Area. But at Sutro Baths, one could swim at almost any time.
The Sutro Baths could hold 10,000 people, & were required to wear rented swimsuits while visiting the Baths. #sutrobaths
