Amazing weather this weekend in #swWI!
Did some burning, cleaning up fallen trees, puttering around in general.
Still some snow here and there, but overall the thaw has set in. Making walking on grassy slopes difficult. And, gravel driveways becoming squishy, leaving footprints.

Went up to #swWI today for even just an hour or two. So refreshing.
Cabin fever is for real.
The total silence, cold, sunshine, snow, animal tracks, view...
I missed this. Last time we were there was t-giving :-(
The trips we did in the mean time were cool.

Center of image is a sliver of the Moon. Overlooking the Mississippi River, the main channel catches a reflection of the moon. The sun has set for 15 mins or so, thr sky is clear. Towards the horizon some scattered clouds, pink orange and yellow hues because of the sunset. The old Blackhawk bridge is no longer there, so you don't see the bridge lights anymore. The new bridge they're building will open late 2027 :-(

Different looking, more brownish in color, about as long as my index finger (glove size XL i guess)
Thinner walking stick, antennas spread in the front, legs close to each other in the front, this one smaller and thinner, about as long a ring finger

Driving on a back road with high beams on. Spotted a juvie raccoon crossing the road, so I slowed down, and stopped. The juvie stopped, sat on his hind legs and spread his paws.

Peepers in the background, some warblers flitting around in the trees, a brisk breeze, cooling us down in the shade, some eagles and turkey vultures lazily gliding on updrafts. Blue birds mewling in the trees. A tree-lined wide view of the Mississippi river, looking south. And our first hummingbird, confused by my day-glow orange shirt. Time to get the feeders up, here.

Lots of animals out tonight: starting at Rockford IL, probably 150+ deer, 50+ turkeys, a mouse, a rabbit, 12 or so sandhill cranes. Canada geese as well.
Couple of close shaves with deer, like "What are all those reflectors next to the shoulder? Oh..."
