Found a patch that gives #Tenchu 1 full on Modern Styled 360 degree analog controls and it's pretty cool, you can even control the camera with the right stick.
Combat and some of the movement is still kinda jank, but this is still pretty damn awesome and worth checking out.

Considering #Tenchu was their most profitable series, Way of the Samurai never really stopped, Shinobido was never really given a serious western push, and Samurai Western never caught on... at this point I'd be fine with 1 & 2 remakes with quality of life improvements in an "modern mode".

#Tenchu 4 (Shadow Assassins) was bold, but 3 (Wrath of Heaven/Return from Darkness) just included so many quality of life improvements that the games needed that make it a masterpiece! I never bothered @fromsoftware_pr or @astargames_en for a revival, but perhaps now it's time!
