Okay, I'll cheat and type what I think here, bc empirically, everyone loves to post about how we all HAVE to use alt-text, and then nobody fucking reads it, lol. Way to crusade, guys. Here I am, typing my goddamned heart out every time, and nobody even...
Doesn't matter. My Top Four are, and order matters, this is 1-4, American Psycho, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, The Lighthouse and Tommy Boy.
American Psycho is just more or less my favorite movie ever made. I love it more every time I watch it, and I've probably seen it IN FULL a hundred times, not including the thousands of times I've watched little clips or fired up the DVD and jumped to whatever scene or moment was calling to me. That one is just always going to be up there somewhere, and I also wrote it about pretty recently, as a guide to how to view and treat Donald Trump, whose templates are basically the same as Bateman's. Like, Bateman and Trump are both abhorrent dweebs, but they both wish they were the same basic, platonic guy. It's useful. Btw, you can go click these on my profile and they're all linked to these articles, so you can find out!
Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead is super important to me, but also, no one has heard of it or picks it, but artists see it and wish they had. Great one.
The Lighthouse. Recent, for me! And, to be honest, I've never seen a film like it. I'm still mulling it over, months later, and I intend to watch it again soon. I wrote about how a seagull that always calls to me now feels sinister and weird.
Tommy Boy! I needed something to balance out the three snooty picks. I think American Psycho is flawless and the best movie ever made, but it turns a lot of people WAY off (as does the novel me; I've read it, too) (yuck). A lot of people don't know the middle 2 or think they're inaccessible.
Tommy Boy everyone loves, and most of all me. I think it MIGHT be the best movie ever made.
In totem, they say that I have particular tastes, but humor is a throughline.
This came up earlier, & got me pondering...
I know what *I* think, but what do *you* think my @letterboxd.social #TopFour says about me?
(I crushed a whole #alttext allocation, lol)
When you, a #FilmSky or #MovieSky person, see these #letterboxd #Top4, what do you reckon of moi? 🤔
