A colorful leaf covered trail winds through a forest of yellow-leafed trees with skinny black trunks. Some low-lying greenery lines the path. But the majority of color on and around the trail is yellow and rust colored leaves.
I loved this peaceful and colorful walk in the woods. I had the whole trail to myself!

Pinnacle Peak rises sharply behind alpine meadows dotted with evergreens. Its rugged cliffs mirror in a quiet tarn along the Tatoosh Range Trail in the South Cascades.
Mount Rainier and Little Tahoma tower over the horizon under a hazy sky, with glaciers and rocky ridges reflected in a clear trailside pool high in the Tatoosh Range.
Summits above, mirrors below, the Tatoosh doubles the view we love.

A wooden boardwalk, which is part of a hiking trail, leads to a wooden bench under a huge oak tree which has multiple trunks and long branches reaching in all directions. The soil beneath the tree has been hollowed out by a stream/pool, exposing the tree roots. There is a small waterfall to the right (out of the frame), which creates a pool next to the tree and under the bridge. The tree and vegetation are lush and green. This is the W trail in the Irish Hills of San Luis Obispo, California.

My favorite tree with the mini waterfall, creek and pool, plus a bench in the shade to soak it all in. I'm always amazed how oak trees adapt to their environment.

The trail is covered with pine needles. On either side the soil is black from a recent fire. As I hiked I could smell the charred wood and foliage. There are evergreens in the distance that were uneffected.
Itβs #Scape day! The first time I encountered a trail that had suffered a wildfire I expected devastation. There was, but there was also beauty.
