I got a new webcam camera. I will now use it for everything but a webcam, so enjoy this neat picture I took using it.

The user interface of FORGE. On the left side consisting of 75% of the screen is an in focus picture of a tree core sample as part of the live video feed of Forge. On the right side is a list of collapsible menus. Starting from the top is the titlebar which says "FORGE" below that is a menu section titled "Control" it contains a variety of buttons for moving and homing the 3D printer that Forge is based upon. In addition there is text for the step size and current X, Y, and Z position. The next section is titled "Automation" and has 3 buttons labelled "Start", "Stop", and "Pause". The next section is labelled "Camera Control" and contains buttons for taking photos, auto focusing, toggling the machine vision on and off, along with setting a filter to filter out hot pixels. The next section is "Sample Management" in this there are buttons labelled "Go to Sample" along with a plus and minus button that select samples 1 through 20. Below that is a scrolling section that contains the list of 20 samples with check boxes to mark which ones to scan, and names for each individual sample.

Multi sample imaging is now fully integrated into Forge's GUI! This makes it the cheapest and highest resolution multi tree core scanner out there!

Finally got fully automatic tree core sample imaging working on Forge!

The workflow is now place lens cap on, detect hot pixels, remove lens cap, place samples, enter their names and hit start. I think this makes it one of if not the easiest tree core scanner to use out there.

Currently working on integrating automatic sample detection into Forge using machine vision. This is gonna save me so much work as once I finish with this and auto focus, I won't have to manually define the sample bounds anymore or worry about warped samples.

The GUI of FORGE. It has a camera settings menu shown in addition to the right side bar and camera view. The camera view is the same yellow green color of mountain dew.

Fun part about making camera GUIs is that you can make everything the color of mountain dew if you so wish. In the meantime, I finished the camera settings menu for FORGE. Now I can move onto programming in multi sample scanning.

3D printed sample holders to keep the tree core samples in alignment when scanning them. Next up is implementing multi sample scanning. I would add support for Klipper based systems, but I don't have a 3D printer that runs Klipper.

wip millipede handle. Sculpting this handle today. I didn’t know I could sculpt a millipede, I just had the idea and went for it. Should I add the leggies? 🦵 🦵 🦵

I’ve made 8 of these toothpick sized jars. Haven’t took the best pics yet.
Just created my BSky acc so I’m not sure about hash tags. Appreciate any help using this app. Recommended to me for art. Thanks! 💚

Sculpted, ceramic.
I carve my corks individually for each bottle; my least favorite part of the process.

Finally got the first completed image of a tree core sample taken using a 100x lens and FORGE. I'm still working on the image stitching since theres a slight bend isn't supposed to be there, but its one step closer to lab use.

Either way, this is exciting as it doesn't mean waiting hours for a sample to get imaged, and it opens the pathway to quickly scanning multiple large samples in succession which was the original goal of this project.

It appears I walked round Waitrose with twigs stuck to my jumper. I’ve just picked them out of the wool. #treecore #everydaydryad
