Extreme Nahaufnahme des Flügelmusters eines Tagpfauenauges (Aglais io). Im Zentrum des Bildes ist ein ovaler Augenfleck zu sehen: ein schwarzer Ring umschließt ein irisierendes, blau-weißes Muster aus winzigen Schuppen, die im Licht metallisch schimmern. Umgeben ist der Augenfleck von einem cremefarbenen bis beigen Bereich, der in die leuchtend orangeroten Partien des Flügels übergeht. Am rechten Bildrand und oben sind die charakteristischen rotbraunen Flügelschuppen sowie feine Härchen deutlich zu erkennen.
