An open doorway spilling light into a darkened room. Story text: The demons carried their darkness, drawn in curiosity to the light emanating from the open door of her soul. They snickered at her kindness, poked at her open heart like it was an unprotected portal, somewhere they could slip through unnoticed, smuggling their sins of wrath, greed, envy and sloth to pollute the light within. Her purity was such that she could feel what they emanated before they even reached her. She held open the door to her light, knowing that, unseen beneath her purity, was the strength of a thousand fires all borne of a battle; a raging against the onslaught of betrayal, lies and abuse that had beset her life. She waited for them to step over the line, breaching her calm demeanour. As the threshold was crossed her flames did flare, eviscerating what had come as a threat, consuming it with the strength that only comes from staying good when the world had tried to turn someone bad.
A very different #vss365 from me today, inspired by the prompt #slip
Is it a #horrorwrite? I don't even know.
I know that this week has been tough beyond measure and people should never see kindness as a weakness.
Thanks to those who read it! 🙏
