Last autumn, I didn't mow, shred, remove or otherwise disturb the fallen leaves in my yard. I only raked them into the beds in the front, so it would look tidy. In the back, I left them alone.
Last night, we were rewarded with thousands of fireflies, for the first time in over a decade.

A few years ago I let my manicured hillside go wild, and now it is a beautiful mixture of various hemerocalis and milkweed. The layering of the flowers along the hillside is beautiful, and the colors contrast nicely.
Best of all, there must be 1000 honeybees that were never there before!
