Hear me out—maybe some/ many/ most TTRPGs are not role-playing games but role-playing TOYS. I’m playing with my wee dolls (sorry, “action figures”), like I would when I was a kid. & that’s okay.
I’m reminded of #WillWright (Sims, Spore, SimCity) & a remark that these apps are all toys NOT games.
