Considering the chapters I worked on this weekend were the least outlined so far, I'm very happy with the outcome, the second one even is the longest chapter in the project so far 🙂

Keeping track of your writing goals during #SpriNoWriMa A look into a word tracker website we'll be using during this event.

With #SpriNoWriMa right around the corner, I've made a guide covering the Word-count tracker we're hoping everyone will use. Learn more about it here:

#writingLog I managed to keep my daily word goal writing on my novel, but I’m still working on getting up at 5am. After finishing an early key scene I had a great plot/world-building brainstorming session today. I’m definitely not an outliner. I have to find the plot as I write.

(2/2) The last couple of days I managed to keep my 500 word writing goal and I'm currently trying to move my wake-up time toward the #5amwritersclub to have a few hours each morning reserved for writing.

Also: Started to read The Writer's Journey by Christopher Vogler

Today was too much going on so I didn’t have time to properly write. I wanted to do some plot/world brainstorming instead and arrived at … well … magic wielding vampires 😅

#writingLog I had a bit of a different approach today
- I sat in a dark room with only candle and the laptop for light.
- It was silent and I didn’t listen to any music.
- I started out by dictating plot to my phone.
- I had a nice cup of tea.

So. Today's #WritingLog.

A #WordCount of 5,320(?!) which brings the running total to 84,567...

🎉🎉🎉 AND THAT'S THE DRAFT! 🎉🎉🎉

It's a mess, and I already know (and dread) how much work the next draft is going to be... but it's an almost-85k draft with a beginning, a muddle and an end and I'M DONE!

A loooong day to add in today's #WritingLog: a #WordCount of 3,183, which brings the running total to a so-nearly-there 79,237. Why couldn't I get this much done a day earlier on? No idea, but I'm glad it's a bit less like trying to chew rocks now. I'll take what I can get...

The start of a new week (and hopefully one of the last ones, at least for this draft) so it's a new #WritingLog. And today's #WordCount is a surprising 3,002, taking the running total to 76,003. I feel like that'll need a lot of changes next time around, but inching ever closer to an end... of sorts

No #WritingLog yesterday, as I went to see Conclave (fab) and am also in the middle of the worst week I've had in a very, very, very long time. HOWEVER! Today's #WordCount clocks in at a reasonable 1,191 words, nicely bringing the running total up to 73,001. It's so very nearly done, I can taste it.

OK. Today's #WritingLog update: a #WordCount of 2,194 (that's THREE 2k+ days in a row, which is nothing short of astonishing / exhausting) which makes a running total of... 71,800 - and I'm as baffled as anyone by how that's happened.

Oh, god, what a day [negative]. But still, despite it all I've somehow managed a #WordCount of 2,003 (miraculous) to add to the #WritingLog, which takes the running total to 69,606.

Pass the wine.

Monday, so we go again! This week's #WritingLog begins with a daily #WordCount of [drum roll] 2,617. Yet again, I don't love most of them, but they're still moving me forwards so I'll deal with all that later. Running total is 67,352 - which is going to make things... interesting.

I think I managed something like 76 words yesterday to add to the #WritingLog, but I *did* go see Gladiator 2, so. Anyway, today's #WordCount, rounding out the week, is 1,112 - and the overall running total stands at 64,735. And that's another week done.

Today's #WordCount added to the #WritingLog is 1,015. Not bad, given I Zumba'd so hard this morning that I was [this] close to falling asleep after lunch. Running total now stands at 63,616 (no, I know it doesn't quite add up. Blame Scrivener: I'm writing, I can't be doing maths too. My poor brain.)

The #WritingLog for today: not as strong as yesterday's #WordCount, but still 1,251 and bringing the running total to 62,559 overall. I've got a busy week, so it'll be interesting to see how much I can actually fit in - especially if I'm going to get this draft finished (ha!) by Christmas...

Getting this week's #WritingLog off to a strong start, with a #WordCount of 2,212. I can't even remember the last time it was that good for a day! Running total now stands at 61,308 (although this is definitely going to be a zero draft, with a lot to do next time to make it even readable)

7 0 1 0

Last #WritingLog of the week, and today's #WordCount is 1,415 bringing the running total up to 59,065. Next week, we break 60k. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that.

Today's #WritingLog is an OK 1,319 words. It's progress, but oof it was a rough one today. Still, it's ticking along. Running total now stands at 57,643 words.

3 0 1 0

#WritingLog for today comes in at 1,053 words. Not as much as I’d hoped but it brings us to a running total of 56,316 - so it can’t all be bad.

1 0 1 0

Tuesday's #WritingLog check in: 1,317 for today's #WordCount, bringing the running total to 55,153 overall. Over the course of this draft so far, I've realised I hate hate *hate* first drafts. I know some people love the freedom of them - but good lord, it terrifies me. Give me second-draft onwards.

Calling the start of this week's #WritingLog with a day's #WordCount of 1,640, and a running total of 53,680 words. Suddenly wondering how I'm meant to finish this off in the remaining words I've allowed before I hit my target. Umm. (I always do this, faffing about for 50k, then panicking).

And that's this week. Today's #WritingLog gives us day's #WordCount of 1,354 (not too bad, and leaving it in a great place to pick up on Monday) and a running total of 51,985.
(The running totals don't always make sense when compared to the previous day because I tweak stuff a lot as I go!)

OK, so we had a few days without a #WritingLog because of Cat, but easing back in today with a #WordCount of 1,094 - and taking us across the 50k line to 50,631. There will be SO MUCH to do on the next draft of this, and that is absolutely FutureLou's problem.
