why in #xarray a simple operation such as querying what are the different group's name is stored in a netcdf involves using backend calls? the same operation so much easier if using the #netCDF4 module.
I wasted 2 hours figuring out that group name identification is easier using netCDF4. #python

It takes @xarray.bsky.social and #geopandas inputs, and outputs back to #xarray, #pandas, csv, and more (keeping polygon metadata intact!), so it can plug into many existing workflows.
There are some pretty substantial performance improvements in the pipeline as well, so stay tuned.

Justus made a great intro on using #DGGS through #xarray #xdggs at the #Pangeo showcase talk. Xdggs is now in a stage where you can use it fairly robustly with #HEALPIX and #H3. Other integrations like for #DGGRID are developed as separate plugins.
