It's too big for our garbage bin and I'm too cheap to pay for removal. But (sigh) I will miss its angular and shadowed beauty if/when it magically disappears. (Fingers crossed).

An orange cafe set in the converted driveway of an upgraded garage. The garages and driveways around here are often partially below ground level because Seattle is hilly. But the older houses have driveways that are too narrow for parking. So many garages get converted for other uses, including children's playrooms or mother-in-law apartments. This conversion is very nice, creating a small patio with trellising for winding vines and mortared walls. There are a couple of wooden French doors on the erstwhile garage.
Some yard art: A patio party of frogs is rollicking along by the sidewalk. A couple of frogs enjoy reading books on a bench. One sprawls in the sun on a chaise longue. A fiddling frog provides music. A fancy umbrella provides shade for a couple of younsters playing leapfrog.
For some reason the orange cafe set struck me. The frog group (frogs are popular around here!) has grown from three lounging in the sun to a whole patio party with umbrella and fiddler in the past two years

An afternoon spent in the backyard means I was getting exercise and not listening to news. The dogs were good company and doing their usual posturing. The rusty #YardArt was rearranged. #FirstMow #DogsOfInstagram #OrganicGardenYear #MexicanPlum
A flat rust colored decoupe yard art: a smiling cat with a heart has its tail curled over its back. A haapy bird is sitting on the tail. The artwork is sitting in front of a bush, which can be seen as at the corner of a blue gray house with red trim.
A large strange rust colored sculpture sits in someone's front yard. It consists of several long square tubes joined at the top, and spreading out, looking a bit like a bunch of bananas hanging on a hook. There is an angled disk at the bottom that some of the tubes pass through. The sculpture sits on a narrow grassy strip next to a fence. You can see neighborhood houses beyond the fence.
Yard art: is that a catbird seat? And I don't know what the other one is, a hanging bunch of bananas in rust colors?

Monty, a small gray shih tzu, checks out one of two public water bowls set on bricks at the corner of a kind person's front yard. The bright blue handpainted sign by the bowls, planted in a tin bucket, says "Dog Bar" in bright pink letters. Right next to it is another tall narrow bucket with a bright blue sign, with two black crows painted on it, and bright pink letters claiming it is a "Crow Bar." No crows were spotted.

A jazzy frog statuette combo tootles in a front yard; frog musicians line up on a bench stage to play: a drummer, a vocalists, a fiddler two tombonists and another drummer. Two frogs at the end of the stage are dancing. Meanwhile, a friendly realistic rabbit statuette sits in the grass in front, leading the band?
Bad bunny show
I couldn't resist, and I'll bet the gardener couldn't either because the bunny was moved recently.

A yard decoration made with a blue shovel, with green rake heads for wings, a yellow pitchfork head for tail, red pipes for legs, and googly eyes attached at the top of the shovel looks like a fanciful take on a great blue heron. Imagination required! The yard has a neat low blue green fence, with a magnolia growing in the corner. It's a colorful scene.
A sign runs along a chicken wire fence, with pink lettering spelling out "NO MANSPLAINING GUARANTEE". The NO is underlined twice. I wonder if there is a sad story behind this?
A decorative pumpkin gnome house (material unknown), which had previously been used as part of a Halloween scene, is now painted bright red. Its walls are covered with little hand painted hearts in white and blue and pink. There is a small blue gnome in front of the house door. There is a toothy troll under the painted window. At the top is what I suppose is a leprechaun, in anticipation of St. Patrick's Day.
Neighborhood stuff
1. A great blue heron? 2. I dunno what this was about, but OK, then. 3. A seasonally painted erstwhile Halloween pumpkin now full of love... but that troll is still there!

A wall with a window. The window is narrow and has metal framing holding two flower pots.
A closeup of a window frame with layers of cracked paint.
Metal window frame with cracked paint. I suppose it's less of a frame and more of a window setting? A metal design set in a small window in a wall.
Close up of metal bars and a wooden frame, covered in layers of cracked paint.
1/2 It's day TWO of my February Yard Art Challenge. Today I settled on this window. (Do we call this a window?) I was hoping for a humming bird but it flew away when I went to grab my camera. Maybe next time.

A brass duck head is nailed to the inside of a mossy fence. It's verdigris patina is modified by bird droppings. It seems to be a favorite crow target! There is a brightly stained red cedar fence in the background.
And now for something completely different.
Why is this brass duck head nailed to the fence? Who knows?
