A screenshot of a discussion thread on the Giant Bomb forums showing the title of the thread and an excerpt of a comment. The title reads "How long do you want/expect a 'big' story-based game to last you in terms of weeks/months?" and the comment excerpt says:
"There's been a lot of discussion over the years about how many hours a game "should" last both to be worth the cost and to maximize the entertainment value (since a lot of people find longer and bloated games frustrating) but something that doesn't get discussed about is the longer period of time over which games are played. I'm not talking about the amount of time spent actually playing the game but rather the period of time in your life that a game occupies while you are 'actively' playing it. Obviously some games like Overwatch or Spelunky can be played over the course of many years, but for major story based games most of us will play them during a discreet period and move on, maybe revisiting for a replay at some point*"
How long do you ACTUALLY want your big narrative-focused games? How about AAA open-world games? How long is too long?
