The smell of smoky herbs filled the moon lodge. Windows shaped like the phases of the moon circled the round, earthen ceiling. Small alcoves built into the walls held candles in front of crystalline surfaces, reflecting geometric light and splintering off apparitions of shadow. Altars full of feathers, stones, glass, roots, colorful fabrics, and flowers sat in the four directions.
