#MassLynching is an American tradition & on #ThisDayInHistory in 1891 it was the turn of 11 unlucky #ItalianAmericans in #NewOrleans. They were broken out of gaol, shot & hanged in trees; all were entirely unconnected to the source of mob anger. Newspaper coverage was #racist af.
