A cut Benchmark and rainbow painted Fire Brigade Emergency Sprinkler Inlet sign on one of Northampton’s many former boot and shoe factories.

A brass Rivet and faint arrow on a concrete step at the entrance to an electricity substation in Blaby. Hard to spot as the rivet is obscured beneath the metal gates.

Another difficult to find cut benchmark, the original description states it’s on the south parapet of this canal bridge in Glen Parva, but in fact it’s on the North parapet, and facing a busy main road.

This once served the site of industry opposite the old GEC site in Whetstone, now a row of new-build houses. I’m not sure whether these gas installations are called Substations but they serve a similar function, and this one comes with a bonus Brnchmark.

Historic stone boundary marker as described.

The boundary marker is in the background. To the fore is a slightly newer milestone with distances to Liverpool 30, Ormskirk 17, and Preston 1. There's a benchmark on the top.

An old boundary marker of the Port of Preston alongside the River Ribble. EB means East Bank, LQ on the top means Legal Quaystone. Strangely, the date 1844 has the 4's reversed.

Top of a gatepost, covered with lichen. It really does have an Ordnance Survey pivot-style benchmark on it (three lines making an arrowhead, pointing at a dot) but it is really hard to see in the photo.

For #BenchmarkMonday a pivot on top of a gatepost ( www.bench-marks.org.uk/bm123996 ). Lost to the OS in the mid-20th century; nobody re-found it and logged it until I did.
