The Pygmy Nuthatch is a tiny bird with a relatively large, rounded head, no discernible neck, and a straight, sharp bill. The legs are short, the wings are short and broad. This particular borb perches in profile on a curved pine branch against the canopy in bokeh.

A Woodhouse's Scrub-jay is a large, lanky songbird with a long tail and a stout bill. Adults are light blue and gray above, with a whitish throat, grayish belly, and thin, partial breast band of pale blue. This one is floofed up and glaring impatiently at you from a branch in an Emory Oak tree.
Scrub-jay stink eye...💙
...should really be experienced, but you can love it anyway!

I always say The Smaller, Faster Nuthatch because they're twice as hard to catch sitting still over White-breasted Nuthatches. Tiny songbird with a short, square tail, a large head, and a straight, sharp bill. Slate gray wings and back; rich brown cap ending in a sharp line through the eye. Underparts are whitish to pale buff. Perched in profile on an arched pine branch. Some nice bokeh. What's not to like?
I don't foresee me posting a cuter birb, or anything else for that matter, to my timeline today...jsyk.

A Woodhouse's Scrub-jay pushing the envelope for absolute scrub-jay roundness in my snowy juniper tree looks one way...
...then the other way, making his head look hilarious on top of that round-as-a-tennis-ball body...it's also nice the sun has melted some of the frost off the juniper for some nice greens in the frame. *sneezes
