Illustration from HeroQuest 2 published by Chaosium. A group of people are seated around a table playing the game. There are all sorts of problems with the perspective and the black and white picture looks to have been hurriedly shaded with marker pens; the overall effect is of an attempt to turn a poorly composed photo into a drawing.
A full page illustration from QuestWorlds showing the same subject as the previous picture, but this time seen from a more basic perspective looking down the table, with two players on each side and the GM standing and washing her arms around. The picture is brighter with more white space and few dark areas. Nobody seems to be paying attention to the game except for the GM. The intrusive black bars for title, chapter, page number etc are in full effect, unnecessarily taking up space in the picture.
