Feeling a bit bleak today, for whilst I’d like to think I’ve grown past the “control freak” tendencies of my youth, the world is such a jumble right now that it sometimes seems everything is beyond my control. I’ve been reading Epictetus and he states, “Do not wish that all things will go well with you, but that you will go well with all things”, but this seems foolish and myopic in this day and age. Yet when I think about it, there’s only so much one can do, and this is frustrating. Surely there is some balance point between the need to fix everything and the desire to hide your head in the sand?
