The numbness felt like spiders climbing up her legs. It moved. Every day it was higher up her legs, inching into thighs, closer to places she'd prefer weren't paralyzed. There will come a day when she'll no longer be able to walk. Then she'll lose almost all sensation below the waist. Even the fun places - who will love her then? The numbness will still climb, towards heart and lungs, destroying everything in its path. And it will kill her from the inside out.
Overreacted for dramatic effect, of course.
