It's a bit intense, but that's rather the point, and in a very 1:1 film-school theory kind of way, it illustrates to us (and keep in mind, we're presumed to be children or families) that Ebenezer Scrooge is askew, at odds with the world, in some way twisted or ill-fitting to the world around him. Even though he is a figure with an enormous narrative gravity-well, he is not cosmically in-alignment with the other characters in this story. Duh. And, like, you get that from his Darth-Vader-like intro here!
Look, the #Muppets kayfabe is perpetuated even in the subtitles/captions. The character of Dickens, played by guy we know, Gonzo, says, "There he is: Mr. Ebenezer Scrooge."
Such a dramatic #DutchAngle to introduce him, too! This #movie makes bold choices, most of them good 😤
