Random #CanPL thought: the league not acknowledging the history or even the rabbit for #FCEd (for example not calling them “The Rabbits… EVER) really shows how misguided/what a miss the early years were. Too much focus on being artificial history rather than highlighting what made it different IMO

Tom Fath desperately wanted FC Edmonton to succeed, and between 2013 and 2017, we were getting roughly 3,500 fans.
That number isn't the "counting tickets distributed," but the stadium actually had 3,500.

I get that the #CanPL doesn't draw NHL or MLS attendance numbers, but I have been following North American soccer for a veerrryyyy long time.
This league is insanely stable. #FCEd going was a healthy thing for the league. It also was a good lesson early on.

Well, if Ottawa hadn't backed out and been douche canoes about it, then they would have had seven solid clubs that first year (without #FCEd)
Instead, the Fury talked crap about Canadian soccer and wanted to cosy up to the yanks until Canada Soccer found their balls and desanctioned them.

#FCEd folding had literally nothing to do with the #CanPL.
They were thirty million in debt from their NASL days.
Everything about FC Edmonton was self-inflicted. I was excited that they were joining the CanPL, but looking back, the league shouldn't have accepted them.
