A close-up macro image of Capillary Thread-Moss (Ptychostonum capillary). The focus is soft and shallow and sunlight catches the edges of the plant’s structures. The image is mostly green with some brown stems and possibly a blurred tiny grey slug (or similar).

The old canal lies quietly sleeping while nature changes around it. Afternoon sunlight creates delicate lines across the water. The canal is part of the Swift Valley Nature Reserve in Rugby. Overgrown vegetation around the canal has recently been cleared, revealing a fresh view of the old bridge spanning the water. Rugby has many disused canals in the area that have become havens for nature and wildlife. This photograph shows a disused arm of the Oxford Canal. Taken with an iPhone and captured in Apple RAW.

Some notes for photographers: Manual; 1/250s, f/4, ISO 12,800, ev +1.3; 127mm (equivalent to 254mm on 35mm film). Olympus OM1 (mk 1); m43 sensor. Panasonic Leica 50-250mm f/2.8-4.0. The backlighting has reduced the contrast of the image captured. I left that, for the atmosphere. Similarly, I kept the warm tones of the capture, for the same reason and because they were consistent with the colours of the singer.

This is a photograph that has been stylised and abstracted. Under an intense, deep blue sky are some triangular roofs, pale in colour, with narrow windows reaching to the apex. Below is the suggestion of curved railings on spiral staircases, and straight railings on balconies. below is a small palm tree in the centre, and large geometric shapes on the ground in two tones of brown, with dark, shadows in dark, flowing tones. Technical notes for photographers. Original capture on iPhone; 1/9600s, f/1.8, iso 25. 4mm lens (28 mm equivalent angle of view on a 35mm sensor). DNG RAW processed in Lightroom Classic, exported to Photoshop for colour adjustment and straightening verticals, then exported again to Spektral Art to produce a 'poster' effect.
Blue, brown and pale triangles.
I enjoyed the sunshine today, and wanted to see how these houses would look simplified and abstracted.
