Loosejaw fused with a human. Oily black skin, cloudy white eyes, an extended bottom jaw, webbed hands, and a crooked tail. Spines line their legs and arms, and sinewy dorsal fins line their back and lower tail. Truly, a monstrocity.
Same as Image 1, but their hinged jaw now shut, for convenience of running and attacking prey in the dark. Their Nimble Escape action allows them to retreat expeditiously without consequence of an opportunity attack or engaging initiative rolls. But their sunlight sensitivity limits their hunting hours to the darkness of nighttime.
Crawling Gulpers. The inhumanely stretched maw of these creatures gives the impression of some outer god's handicraft at work. Sharp sinewy fins like this poor beast's extended back and unnatural tail. Small flickering lights at its left and right sides lead up to its blank white eyes that sit at the tip of its mouth. Horrifying, yet hypnotic.
Earliest drawings of the Loosejaws and Gulpers. Including an Anglerfish hybrid, bipedal in stature with its luring light above its forehead. More webbed feet and fleshy thin fins, gills line its lower chest and armor plates at its legs and forearms. A jagged toothed and gapping mouth rests above its clavicle, but below its beady eyes. Affronts to nature, all.

Character designs for a specific subfaction that shows up eventually in my webcomic Laserwing. These are ostensibly humans, all of them sickly pale with dulled hair color. They're in matching uniforms, navy blue with double-breasted buttons and whtie trim, black skirts and grey tights on the girls, black gloves on the boys. ...I'm not sure why the boys wear gloves and the girls don't, actually, maybe I'll change that. From left to right: Adam, a very tall boy, he seems nice, waving to the viewer like he sees through the fourth wall. He looks like he'd have a medium tan skintone if he were healthier, but in his current state he's an ashen gray. Beau a shorter guy. He's got that 90s center part hair, like a Link or a Trunks. His hair is blue, but a darker, duller color than you usually see from people who dye it. He has a bit of freckle over his nose but even those are a washed out sickly grey. He's smirking and holding a crowbar. Criminal energy. Marina, the leader. Tall for a girl, with heeled boots that make her even taller. She wears a more adult, professional pencil skirt as opposed to the pleated skirts on the female minions. She always has a self-satisfied look on her face. She has grey-blonde hair with one pale blue streak in the front. Sylvette, a very short girl, even in heels she's a head shorter than everyone else in the picture. Her hair is almost literally just gray. She has the same grey freckles as Beau (they're cousins) and she's scowling at the viewer. She's got an implausibly huge sledgehammer slung over her shoulders. Amber, who looks terrified. She's taller than Sylvette but shorter than Marina, and her sickly colors are a little more yellow than grey. She seems miserable.
Part 2 is an edit of the first picture, all the same people in the same lineup with the same uniforms, this time with their true forms out. They's fish people. In Laserwing one of the yet-to-be-revealed subfactions of enemies are more or less 'gillmen,' or 'lagoon creatures,' or whatever you want to call a fish human who isn't a mermaid. Their ears are now ray fins, and similar fins sprout from their wrists and ankles, emerging comfortably through slits in their sleeves/pants/boots that were there the whole time. They all have long, lithe tails, finned at the end, less like a mermaid's tail and more like a finny tentacle. In the first picture they all had closed mouths, in this one their expressions are edited to reveal sharp piranha teeth. Again, from left to right: Adam's coloration is a bit like a leopard shark, sandy brown with dark mottled spots. His fins are relatively smooth and rounded. He's kind of friend-shaped. Beau's a a shade of blue that's just a bit lighter than his hair. I haven't put down solid rules for when the fish people are allowed to have blue hair instead of 'sickly' hair, it just depends on what looks good for the design. The rays of his fins take sharp turns, giving him a weird tensed up look. Marina is a greenish teal. Her ankle-fins are actually all the way up her knees and there's no justification other than I wanted her to have tall boots. Sylvette is a pale blue, which makes her warm-tone gray hair stand out a little more, somehow brighter because it doesn't quite match. Her fin shapes aren't very interesting to describe, because she was the first I designed and the rest are variants off the base concept. Amber's a pale orange color, with reddish spots smudged across her skin. I was going for sort of a cross between a koi and a lionfish. Her tail fin has a weird wigglyness to it, like the rays of her fins are almost little tentacles that curve where the other characters's fins go straight. Fish people!!!
